Internal VS External Conflicts

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Today we are going to
talk about internal versus external conflict so in any story you read any movie you watch any Pixar short film there's going to be some sort of a conflict is two opposing forces creating tension so anything that goes wrong any decision the character has to make any time we're like oh no that is conflict so we have internal and external conflict.
Internal conflict is a character
fighting within themselves so anytime a character is torn about making a decision what should I do if they're trying to figure out what to do or when to do it it's internal so should I ask this girl out should I tell my parents the truth should I do the right thing should I wear this outfit anything where they're trying to figure something out deep within their soul internal conflict everything else is external conflict.
External conflict occurs outside the
character's mind a character could be struggling against another character in the natural world or society so if they get in a fight with someone be it verbal or physical the natural world would be like an emperor's new groove whenever kuzco's there and then the rain just pours down on him out of nowhere still a conflict external or society if they're trying to rebel trying to create change any of that there can also be more than one type of conflict.
In a movie you usually have multiple
conflicts and a story you have multiple conflicts both internal and external and then the main conflict is the most important conflict to the story so sometimes we have conflicts that are really funny and there are favorites but they're not the main conflict because they don't impact the plot the most so example one Jesse gets into a fight with another girl at school internal or external answer in your head or out loud external very good because we got into a physical fight with someone else now if Jesse was trying to figure out if she was gonna fight or not or if she should do the right thing and not fight that would be internal because it's a decision deep within her soul she's trying to figure it out against herself if she's just fighting someone else it's external example two logan breaks his arm in a mountain biking accident now his arm is inside his body so is this internal or external conflict external conflict because logan's not deciding anything it's an internal injury for sure but external conflict example three david chooses not to study and receives a failing grade on his math test but he's got his birthday party this weekend so he has to figure out if he's going to tell his parents about the test before his birthday party or after internal or external internal because there's a decision to be made anytime we have to figure out what to do deep inside ourself, we have to figure it out that would be internal conflict.
